Walking into my first meeting with an engaged couple, I know that I'll be talking with two people that are completely in love with each other and excited about spending the rest of their lives together. Not many jobs start out that way, and it's the thing I love most about mine. Being trusted to document one of the most important days in couple's lives is an incredible honor.
I take a documentary approach, meaning that whenever possible, I don't interfere or try to control the situation. Instead, I try to blend in and anticipate real, genuine moments to create moving images.
During your portraits, I direct and pose you in a natural way, and try very hard to make it a relaxing "time out" from an otherwise hectic day.
My goal is to capture not only every visual detail, but also the way you felt on your wedding day.
I typically work alone for consistency in style and approach, and to prevent a "paparazzi" feeling. The weddings featured in my portfolio were photographed that way. However, a second photographer is available upon request.
With two little boys of my own, I know family photos with little ones can be a challenge! Family sessions are a no-pressure, no-rush situation. I often start by letting kids play, while following them around with the camera, before moving on to posed shots. To keep kids' attention, I do not hesitate to be a goofball and make a fool of myself! And if posed shots prove impossible (which is very rare), I try to capture families interacting naturally (running, playing, talking, tickle fights, etc.).
Engagement Sessions are my favorite way to get to know a couple before their wedding. The vibe is no-rush, casual, and fun. I typically schedule sessions for just before golden hour, and they can be split up between two locations. Posing is very natural - nothing over the top or cliche, and your ideas for specific photos are more than welcome!
A mix of traditional headshot-style portraits and creative, fun shots that highlight a high school graduate's personality. Usually shot around golden hour at a favorite outdoor location.

ABOUT EVANI've been passionate about photography for as long as I can remember. Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I used various film cameras to capture what I was into: skateboarding, landscape and wildlife, and my friends. After the purchase of my first digital SLR camera, my hobby rapidly turned into an obsession, and I would spend hours hiking on Mount Lemmon, in Sabino Canyon, or wandering downtown and in Barrio Viejo working on my skills. Eventually I began receiving requests from friends and family to capture important events in their lives. Realizing I could turn my passion into a career, I dove headfirst into portraiture. A mastery of the technical aspect of photography was (and still is) very important to me, so I obsessively self-educated and practiced before starting my business.
10 years and a couple hundred weddings later, I still love my job, I still love meeting new people, and I still love the incredible honor of capturing such an important and memorable day in peoples' lives.
If that wasn't long-winded enough, here's a little more about me:
My wife Kate and I met in 1999, were middle-school sweethearts, and got married in 2006 at Saguaro Buttes in Tucson. Kate is simply the best human I know, my inspiration, and the motivation behind everything I do.
We have two little boys, Hudson (7) and Matthew (4). We call them "big butt & little butt" and "lightning & thunder".
I went vegan in early 2016.
I'm a coffee snob. Presta and Exo are my faves.
I love mountain biking.
I have never travelled overseas. I'd like to change that soon!
